This probably sounds like the most hypocritical thing in the world coming from me, but man, sometimes it's nice to see Finnick and Annie -- and Mags! -- enjoying themselves in District 4, feeling like the good kind of adventures are on the horizon. (Also Mags. MAGS, totally thrilled about the upcoming pirate adventures. “We’ll just mutiny when it’s my turn to be first mate.” Mags, I love you. Never change.)

And Finnick stumbling over the pirate talk, and his fake stubble, and getting the black sails, and the feather behind Annie's ear -- ♥ ♥ ♥

(Love the PotC mythology nods, too, especially the bit about blood coins at the beginning -- that's the one that really sticks with me. Cursed gold indeed.)

Ugh, I loved imagining the scenes of this -- you know how sometimes writing is like a little movie in your head? That is what Finnick With Fake Stubble And Annie With The Feather totally were, and I grinned a lot.

Even your 'worst' work somehow manages to be really freaking beautiful. How do you do it? I can't even describe how pretty this was- it was a nice mixture of pretty and funny.

I loved all of the nods that you gave to Pirates of the Caribbean (At least I assume that's where you got some of your ideas from. If you didn't and this was all original I'm sorry!)

Mags in this was epic. I mean, she's epic all the time, but I like how you put her in there. Honestly this was great. Finnick and Annie honestly do need some fluff every once in a while. :3

Fun fic. You do a great job with dialogue. I particularly like Finnick trying, and failing, to speak pirate to Annie (Anemone's a great name for her). Mags was wonderful too.

Only con crit is re AN at beginning. Don't criticize your own work. That is insulting to those of us who like it. If it is good enough to throw out there then just do it. Some will like it, some won't.

Well, this story is a huge blow to my self-esteem. Midway through, I was going to tell you that Finnick, post-Games, was a broken, bitter man using a cover of charm to fool onlookers, and Annie was insane - but then I realized that's how you MEANT it to be. You meant this to have that slightly faded, golden feel of the last scene of The Black Pearl - the same feel stories like Master and Commander inspire - and that makes sense.

So instead, what I am going to say is excellent work on characterization and one of the best usages of atmospheric writing I have seen on this site.

Aww :) I thought this was very sweet- you really captured the friendship between the three in a lovely manner. I must admit, I've only ever seen the first PotC movie (which I assume this takes inspiration from), and I really liked the way that you linked the two together.

I also liked your characterization of Finnick- you gave him a sort of flamboyance which was very fun ;) All in all, I loved it- and if this is your WORST work, I can't imagine how good your best one would be!
